We’re familiar with the speaking and listening standards, which build in complexity and expectation for students, especially in grades 4 through 10. But how many of us relish the idea of sitting through days of student presentations? If you are “bored” with Google Slides, Keynote, or PowerPoint and you might move students to another presentation tool, ask yourself if you would ever consider changing word processors to improve student writing.
Good presentations, like writing, are good by design. In this session we will look at some foundational yet flexible structure and design ideas which will help teachers approach teaching presentations similarly to how they teach writing. We will look at leveraging imagery and audience interactivity to make student presentations engaging and powerful.
